GPS Setup

FreeDMR-UK accepts supported radio position reports, records valid locations for the network map and forwards eligible updates to APRS-IS. The configured DMR data service Radio ID is 9998, accepted on either timeslot.

AnyTone and compatible APRS data

Enable GPS and wait for a valid satellite fix.
Create a private-call data contact for Radio ID 9998.
Select that contact in Digital APRS and use an IPSC3 channel for reporting.
Avoid excessive beaconing; ten minutes is a sensible stationary interval.

OpenGD77 Talker Alias GPS

Open each DMR repeater channel used with FreeDMR-UK.
Set TA Tx to APRS for both TS1 and TS2.
The current position is then sent through Talker Alias data when the radio transmits.

Motorola ARS and LRRP

Configure ARS and the Location service for server Radio ID 9998.
Enable GNSS and ARS on the required system channels.
IPSC3 can use ARS for presence and request LRRP positions from a registered radio.
Follow the detailed wiki settings because CPS terminology varies by radio generation.

Position quality and privacy

Only valid decoded coordinates are published. IPSC3 applies location checks against the receiving repeater or hotspot where possible, and the map identifies recent positions rather than providing continuous guaranteed tracking.
